I was going through my "Family" file to delete some very old emails and found one from my sister, Karen.  It made me smile.

Her voice was so there.  Loving, thoughtful and very personal.  She always let me know her door was open.
Her encouragement helped me in a time when I wondered why I was writing and to whom?  An audience can be a very vague thing.  Her big-sister-feedback was nurturing for me.  
Small notes, texts, phone calls, messages left on voice mail, letters in the mail, emails, coffee or tea invites, give you voice.  Each voice unique.  Never underestimate the power of you, the power of love.

HAPPY NEW YEAR (Thank you ahead for reading) I’ve just returned from travel to Germany. My son Holden lives in Berlin and welcomed me for a visit before the holiday. I want to share one of my experiences. Going through this helped me see I’m calmer and more grounded.  I Enjoy the Train Rides in Germany Holden and I traveled two different times on regional trains for his Christmas performances. One was in Bautzen and the other in Zittow. They’re considered Saxony regions of East Germany.They border the Czech republic. It makes them very interesting. More rural areas. The people are less likely to speak English. I’m amazed at how much they do speak compared to my ability to speak German, though.  One day while Holden was working (while in Bautzen) I decided to wander the Christmas Market (Weinachtmarkt) and go to a local museum. I already saw one of his early performances and the evening performance was sold out.  One of my favorite things to do in is walk with "Some"...

Deep Blue Waters

It fascinates me I am at the same stage of my self-awareness as I am in my acclimating myself to Istanbul.  I have started to place less judgement.  I take it more as it is.  Less comparing.  I recently finished Care of the Soul by Thomas Moore and feel much of what I've been learning start to sink in.  I'm observing myself more than analyzing myself.          Moore says, ' When people observe the ways in which the soul is manifesting itself, they are  enriched     rather than impoverished.  they receive back what is theirs,   the very thing they  have assumed to be so horrible that it should be cut out and tossed away.  When you regard the soul with an open mind you begin to find the  messages that lie within  the illness.  The corrections that can be found in remorse and other uncomfortable feelings,  and the necessary changes requested  by depression and anxiety.' ...

To Celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Arriving Early for Harry Belafonte's Lecture Hill Auditorium, U of M Harry Belafonte spoke today, at Hill Auditorium, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. His presence, style, personality were all what I expected and more.  He doesn't have to sing to make his presence known. He casually walked on stage with a cane.  He wore a gray tweed suit, with black shoes.  No tie, but a white shirt underneath a gray sweater, showing only the white collar.  Tall, handsome, and charming, he smiled warmly, as the crowd greeted him.
