The Day After

Met a man carrying a Christmas Tree  As I was walking down the street, hi-ho, hi-ho, hi-ho, hi-ho, some interesting sights I chance to meet, Hi-ho, Hi-ho, Hiii-ho!  I went to swim at the pool, today.  I figured it would be smooth swimming, without much competition for lanes.  I thought most people would have commitments with family and other things.  I was right, it was delightful.  I swam for an hour. I really hated to get out.  I felt like I was mermaid, leaving my natural habitat.  As Lucy Evashevski say, “You are The Memaid of this lake!”  She was referring to Lake Huron.  Her and her husband, John, walk on the boardwalk, quite regularly, in St. Ignace (before the snow).  So they see me, in the cold lake, snorkling or just playing in the water, when I’m up there. I know I started my writing with “As I went walking....”  Because, when I was walking to the YMCA today, I saw a man carrying quite a large Christmas tree.  I was so surprised.  I asked him if I could get

It's True!

Well, it's true.  I'm writing a novel in November.   I joined NaNoWriMo this year and am enjoying the process and the challenge.  I just logged in a total of 17,963 words after my 7th day.  Don't think they all are spelled correctly or editted.  That will come.  For now I'm just enjoying being a writer with a huge goal ahead of me. I'm writing a young person's novel.  The main characters are a young girl, Nila and a young boy, Peiter.  Peiter lives in a gypsy community, in Germany.  Nila lives on an Amish farm, in the eastern part of America.  How they meet?  I guess you'll have to read my novel. I'll have written 50,000 words by the last day of November.  Holden, my son, is my buddy.  He accomplished his novel in 2013 with NaNoWriMo and is writing again this year.  That's how I heard about this great idea and thought I'd try it. I included some facts on the program. NaNoWriMo Facts and Stats National Novel Writin

My cousin, Kathy (Cro-Jo) Feher, sent me a poster I just HAD to put up after my last blog, because I wrote about swindling the hands of the clock.   It's about the Daylight Saving's Time.   It's so approriate to this time of year.  Thanks for that, Cro-Jo!

Is Summer and Love Over?

Huron Bay, St. Ignace, Michigan Frost on rooftops in the morning. Burning bush flame dwindling. Hands of the clock swindled again to save daylight. Is summer over? Sun hurrying across the sky to set. I scavenge for warm clothes and scarves. Colorful pumpkins on porches instead of fields. Did summer end? Ice-melting-bags of salt, jugs of antifreeze, Replacing bugspray and sunscreen. School buses run on time, like a subway. Did three months really pass? Thermostat up in place of air conditioner down. Windows closed instead of open. Colorful leaves pressed ready to send to Florida. Is Karen really gone? U.P. Girl in the U.P. Beach walking, catch-up talking, family-matronly-sister. Loving listener, enthusiastic season planner. Did her life
